Meet the team:
We are seeking a Digital Factory Software Systems Engineer to join the IT/OT team supporting manufacturing operations and engineering initiatives in both R&D and production plants. This engineer will work closely with R&D, Operations Engineering, Quality, and IT teams to ensure reliable operation of manufacturing software platforms in pilot plant and commercial manufacturing including SCADA, SQL Server databases, and custom factory applications. This position combines systems engineering, software development, and manufacturing software systems support to help maintain high system availability and support Dexcom’s manufacturing operations.
Where you come in:
Provide day-to-day software development and technical support for manufacturing software systems, including MES (Manufacturing Execution Systems) integration, SCADA platforms, SQL Server databases, and related factory applications.
Design, develop, and maintain manufacturing software solutions, including database structures, data pipelines, and application integrations that support digital factory initiatives.
Develop system designs and architecture artifacts (e.g., UML diagrams, interface specifications, and system documentation) to support software development and system integration.
Support continuous software improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to enhance system performance, user experience, data integrity, and operational efficiency across manufacturing platforms.
Troubleshoot and resolve software-related production issues in a timely manner to minimize manufacturing downtime and ensure continuity of manufacturing operations.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including R&D, Engineering, Quality, IT, and Production to identify root causes and implement corrective and preventive actions for software and system anomalies.
Develop and maintain SQL Server database solutions, including queries, stored procedures, views, and data integrations to support manufacturing operations and analytics.
Support software deployments, configuration updates, system integrations, and application enhancements within manufacturing environments.
Participate in software validation, verification, and change control processes in regulated manufacturing environments.
Assist in the creation and maintenance of technical documentation, system architecture documentation, development standards, and support procedures.
Investigate using AI tools to speed up all aspects of the development process.
This position assumes and performs other duties as assigned.
What makes you successful:
5+ years of experience supporting manufacturing or industrial software systems (e.g., SCADA, LabVIEW applications, C#, database-driven applications).
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze and resolve complex technical issues in a fast-paced environment.
Solid understanding of manufacturing processes and production environments (e.g., GMP, lean manufacturing, Six Sigma principles).
Proficiency in SQL and database management
Familiarity with software deployment tools, system monitoring, and version control practices.
Experience working with cross-functional teams including IT, R&D, Engineering, Quality, and Production.
Familiarity and have practical experience with industry standards related to manufacturing operations including ISA-95
Knowledge of FDA regulations such as 21 CFR Part 11
Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to document technical issues and communicate with both technical and non-technical users.
Preferred Qualifications:
Familiarity with relational databases
Experience with SW V&V of Automated systems on the factory floor.
Proven ability to multi-task, prioritize projects, and maintain timelines.
Detail oriented and organized.

Experience and Education Requirements:
- Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline, and a minimum of 5-8 years related experience or Master’s degree and 2-5 years equivalent industry experience or a PhD and 0-2 years experience.
Flex Workplace: Your primary location will be a home office. You will not have an assigned workstation and will work with your manager to determine office visit needs. You must live within commuting distance of your assigned Dexcom site (typically 75 miles/120km).

Salary:
$111,100.00 - $185,100.00
