OpenAI Finance ensures the organization is set up for success in pursuit of its mission. The Revenue team works cross-functionally to evolve and grow OpenAI’s commercial offerings. This team oversees billing operations, deal desk, revenue systems, and revenue close—ensuring revenue processes are scalable, accurate, and compliant.
About the Role
As the Head of Revenue Systems, you will own the strategy and execution of OpenAI’s global billing infrastructure across both Consumer and Enterprise product lines. You’ll shape how we design, launch, and scale our monetization systems—partnering closely with Engineering, Product, and Finance to deliver seamless billing experiences, drive scalable operations, and ensure accuracy and compliance in revenue reporting.
In this high-impact role, you’ll work directly with OpenAI’s fast-growing suite of AI products, building robust solutions, influencing system architecture, and leading cross-functional initiatives that drive global growth.
This role is based in San Francisco, CA. We use a hybrid work model of 3 days in the office per week and offer relocation assistance to new employees.
In this role, you will:
Translate the Revenue team's vision into a world-class revenue systems architecture, partnering with Product, Accounting, and Engineering to design scalable system requirements.
Lead the team to drive major systems initiatives spanning payments, billing, invoicing, and revenue reporting.
Support new product monetization strategies across both consumer and enterprise segments.
Oversee complex billing and revenue transformation projects with a bias toward action and innovation.
Drive long-term strategic planning while delivering operational excellence.
Build strong cross-functional influence, earning trust across technical and non-technical stakeholders.
You might thrive in this role if you:
12+ years of experience in Revenue Operations, Billing Architecture, Financial Systems, or Order-to-Cash leadership roles.
Deep expertise in subscription and usage-based billing models, ASC 606 revenue recognition, and payment systems (e.g., Stripe, Adyen).
Proven success scaling systems in hyper-growth environments.
A builder’s mindset with the ability to architect and implement in-house billing solutions.
Strong analytical and project management skills, with a track record of leading cross-functional initiatives.
Working knowledge of SQL, financial data structures, and analytics tools.
