Position Overview
We seek a dedicated Talent Acquisition Partner to join our distributed talent acquisition group. This role is fully responsible for recruitment across Japan, including attracting, sourcing, evaluating, and hiring top local and international candidates. Your efforts will support business growth and team expansion in the Japanese market. The perfect fit has extensive local recruitment knowledge, proven experience in full-cycle hiring, and the ability to connect local practices with the standards of a distributed corporate setting.
Key Responsibilities
- End-to-End Full Cycle Recruitment Delivery: Own and complete the entire recruitment lifecycle for Japan-based roles across all business functions, including technical, professional, managerial, and specialist positions. Responsibilities cover job requirement analysis, job description drafting, candidate sourcing, screening, interviewing, offer negotiation, onboarding coordination, and post-hire follow-up, ensuring a smooth and efficient recruitment process from start to finish.
- Japan Market Talent Insights & Sourcing Strategy: Apply deep knowledge of the Japanese labor market, talent landscape, industry trends, and local employment norms to create targeted sourcing strategies. Build and maintain a strong talent pipeline for immediate and future hiring needs by using professional networks, job boards, social recruiting platforms, headhunting, employee referrals, and other effective channels suited to the Japanese market.
- Partner closely with local hiring managers, regional leadership, and global cross-functional teams. These include global HR, business leaders, and overseas collaborators. Align recruitment priorities, understand role requirements, and deliver talent solutions that meet local and global company needs. Communicate effectively with global teams to update recruitment progress, share market insights, and solve recruitment challenges promptly.
- Recruitment Process Optimization & Alignment: Ensure all recruitment activities in Japan follow local labor laws, regulations, employment standards, and company global HR policies. Continuously optimize the local recruitment process, improve efficiency and candidate experience, and provide data-driven recruitment reports including hiring metrics, time-to-fill, quality-of-hire, and market analysis to relevant partners.
- Ad Hoc Talent Projects: Support special recruitment projects, talent mapping, diversity and inclusion initiatives, and other talent acquisition-related tasks designated by the global and local HR leadership team.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Professional Experience: At least 5-8 years of advancing full-cycle talent acquisition or recruitment experience in corporate, agency, or in-house HR environments. A consistent record of successfully managing recruitment from start to finish is required.
- Fluency in Japanese at a native level and strong business English abilities are mandatory. You should possess an in-depth, applied understanding of Japan’s labor landscape, talent movement, recruitment habits, employment standards, and regional hiring difficulties. Prior recruiting experience focused predominantly on Japan is required.
- Demonstrated experience working in a global company, cross-cultural team, or international organization.
- Core Recruitment Proficiencies cover expertise in candidate sourcing, behavioral and technical interviewing, talent assessment, and offer negotiation. You will also collaborate with interested parties and handle multiple requisitions simultaneously in a fast-paced setting.
- Soft Skills: Excellent interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills. Solid attention to detail. Committed to achieving outcomes. Able to build trust with local hiring teams and global collaborators. Proactive in solving problems and managing time effectively.
- Tool Proficiency: Familiarity with standard recruitment tools and HR information systems Workday; advanced MS Office skills for reporting and data tracking.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience as an internal Talent Acquisition Partner/Recruitment Specialist within a global tech, e-commerce, consumer, or multinational company
- Experience recruiting for niche or technical roles in high-demand industries in Japan
- Strong existing professional network within the Japanese talent community and industry circles
- Experience with recruitment data analysis and process improvement initiatives
