Manager I, Engineering - Governance
Engineering Manager to lead a team building systems for observability usage, cost, and best practices.
The Governance Console is a cornerstone of Datadog’s effort to help customers manage their observability usage, cost, and best practices at scale.
We are building a platform that surfaces actionable insights and controls to ensure customers can govern their Datadog usage effectively—across teams, organizations, and products.
As the Engineering Manager for this initiative, you'll lead a growing team focused on building highly visible and technically challenging systems that span telemetry pipelines, configuration interfaces, tagging and access governance, and multi-org coordination.
You'll work closely with product, design, and other engineering groups to define the vision, iterate on prototypes, and scale the console to serve Datadog’s largest customers.

What You’ll Do:
- Drive the design of a flexible governance system that lets customers define policies, detect misconfigurations, and take action—turning observability from reactive monitoring into proactive management
- Collaborate with PM, design, and other engineering teams to define the roadmap and execute on delivery
- Tackle complex engineering problems that span multiple teams
- Work with enterprise customers to better understand their governance needs, and turn their pain points into improved capabilities
Who You Are:
- You are an experienced engineering manager who has experience leading backend of full-stack engineering teams
- You have built and scaled distributed systems, and you enjoy solving complex problems that impact customers
- You have a track record of growing and mentoring engineers at different stages in their careers
- You are comfortable navigating ambiguity, building roadmaps, and aligning cross-functional teams
- You have a BS/MS/PhD in a Computer Science, Engineering or related scientific field or equivalent experience

$187,000—$240,000 USD
