Materials Manager

Job Summary:
The Materials Manager is accountable for end‑to‑end materials flow for the Uniontown site including planning, PFEP ownership, inventory control, logistics, and materials movement. This role ensures on‑time delivery, cost efficiency, data integrity and operational accuracy through strong process discipline, cross-functional alignment, and continuous improvement through rigorous use of analytics and standardized material flow tools.
Responsibilities:
Strategic Planning and Execution• Develop and execute materials strategies and plans aligned with business goals• Use demand forecasts and capacity data to drive production planning and optimal inventory levels• Apply PFEP methodologies to design and maintain optimized material flow, packaging, replenishment and storage strategies.
• Anticipate risks, evaluate trends and adjust plans to ensure continuity of supply.
Materials Management, PFEP Ownership and Inventory Control
• Create, maintain, and enforce a robust PFEP database covering all part‑level attributes, replenishment methods, handling requirements, storage locations, and flow paths.
• Ensure PFEP data accuracy and use it to drive decisions in inventory levels, replenishment strategies and material handling.
• Achieve 100% inventory accuracy through standardized controls, cycle counts, auditing, and root‑cause countermeasures.
• Oversee planning, scheduling, buying, receiving, warehousing, and shipping to support uninterrupted production.
• Maintain ERP/MRP data integrity and ensure alignment between system data and PFEP standards.
Procurement and Supplier Performance
• Monitor supplier performance and ensure timely delivery of materials• Partner with Procurement to resolve supplier issues, drive root‑cause actions, and prevent repeat failures.
• Communicate material shortages and delivery risks proactively to leadership and production teams.
Financial and Operational Performance
• Own inventory performance metrics: net inventory, DIO, turns, accuracy, excess/obsolete levels, and carrying cost.
• Use PFEP and data analytics to identify waste, reduce costs, meet production demands and improve material flow
• Lead inventory optimization and operational improvement initiatives.
• Apply KPIs and root‑cause analysis to ensure performance transparency and sustained results.
Logistics and Distribution• Oversee inbound/outbound logistics and warehousing processes to support reliable material flow.• Use PFEP to define delivery frequency, containerization standards, and optimal logistics routes.
• Ensure on-time customer shipments• Lead improvements in material handling, warehouse layout, kitting, and replenishment methods
Risk Management• Identify potential risks in the supply chain and material flow; develop contingency plans• Ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards• Drive a safety‑first culture in all material handling, warehousing, and logistics operations
Team Management:• Lead, coach and hold accountable a high-performing materials team• Set clear goals and KPIs for team members, provide feedback and ensure team ownership of PFEP, inventory and material flow standards.• Foster a positive, collaborative work environment and disciplined work environment embracing continuous improvement

Qualifications:• Bachelor’s in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or related field, with at least 8 years experience; at least 2 years experience as a people manager• Proven experience in materials management, inventory control, PFEP development, logistics, and production planning.• ERP/MRP expertise (BPCS, SAP, or similar), shop floor management systems, and strong Microsoft Office proficiency
• Proficiency in data analysis tools (Excel, Power BI, etc.) and the ability to translate data into actionable insights.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, communication project management skills
The estimated salary range for this position is $125,000 to $135,000 plus bonus. Starting pay is dependent on multiple factors, such as skills, experience and work location, and is not typically at the top of the range.
