How will you make an impact?
The Procurement Partner contributes to the development of multi-year strategies and business plans for Division and drives the execution of the Procurement vision with key colleagues in the division. The individual is a key partner to the divisional operations leader with a focus on strategy, execution and implementation. Facilitates the development and execution of long-term strategies that will optimize quality, cycle/response time, technology, risk, and total cost. Mitigates risk, uses technology, improves processes and systems, and reduces overall cost of ownership and acquisition.
Strategic and Leadership Responsibilities:
- Delivers on key objectives (Annual Operating Plan - AOP), delivery, quality, service, cost, innovation, and growth commitments for Division Procurement
- Aligns the Procurement strategy with the site Leadership team and ensures Procurement value contribution to site initiatives
- Establishes and implements short and long-term Procurement goals, strategies, policies and procedures for the site aligned with the site and divisional leadership.
- Translates site business and Procurement objectives and targets to Category management teams and monitor category management contributions to these targets.
- Manages site input to category strategies (Global, Group specific)
- Partners with Category Managers, R&D, Engineering to deliver annual value improvements and drives competitive advantage
- Engages with supplier leadership to support the CM team and Division in achieving Thermo Fisher objectives related to quality, cost, innovation, growth and compliance
- Support the development and implementation of common processes, standardized work, use of tools and technologies
- Provides input to make or buy and footprint decisions, supplier selection and supplier management for product innovation projects and vendor transitions, monitors the execution and communicates results to senior leaders
- Serves as the point of contact and ensure the implementation of Enterprise Processes such as Supplier Quality, Supplier Risk and Supplier Management
Sourcing and Supplier Management Responsibilities
- Negotiate with external suppliers on material availability and cost. Solicit and evaluate quotations for materials and services, ensuring compliance with specifications in collaboration with MSAT, Quality, and Category Managers. Assess pricing, delivery commitments, and supplier capabilities to confirm they can support a reliable and secure supply chain.
- Lead procurement cost savings projects and work with cross-functional teams to drive cost savings to completion.
- Handle supplier relationships, monitoring supplier performance to ensure compliance with contractual obligations, and looking for ways to improve supplier performances.
- Support supplier risk mitigation activities by working on highlighting risk to the organization and implementing long-term strategies to avoid revenue risk to the company.
- Support New Product Introduction activities by sourcing raw materials that meet customer specifications.
- Report procurement performance metrics for the site.
- Support continuous improvement and operational excellence processes.
- This position may be required to perform other related duties as required and/or assigned
- Support the Supply Chain team in maintaining continuous material availability and minimize inventory.
How will you get here?
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain/Materials Management or a scientific field (Biology or Chemistry) is required; an MBA is preferred.
Experience
- 8+ years of procurement or sourcing management experience required; a shorter duration may be considered with an advanced degree
- Experience working in international or global environments preferred
- Experience in life sciences, medical device, or pharmaceutical industries preferred
- Experience with biologics single-use technologies preferred
- Candidates with experience in sales, product management, or manufacturing sciences may be considered in lieu of procurement experience

- High level of proficiency with core Procurement skills (engineering, sourcing)
- Strong influencing skills with ability to see issues from multiple viewpoints and understand differing needs of colleagues
- Significant business knowledge and proven team building skills
- Demonstrated flexibility and willingness to respond to changes in the external environment
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with ability to confidently present complex information
- Results oriented, metrics driven leader with a root cause, permanent fix approach, continuous improvement approach
- Demonstrated understanding of operations
- Strong analytical skills and process focus
