About the Internship
The Business Operations & Data Analyst Intern will support operational improvement initiatives related to an upcoming Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system migration. The intern will assist with developing training and process documentation, organizing operational knowledge resources, preparing and analyzing data, and identifying opportunities to leverage digital tools such as Excel, Power BI, and Microsoft Copilot to improve team effectiveness and enhance the customer experience.
This role provides hands-on experience supporting ERP readiness, data quality, process improvement, and digital enablement within a global organization focused on solving critical water challenges.
Xylem Summer Internships typically last 10–12 weeks and offer undergraduate students meaningful, hands-on professional experience while making a lasting contribution to the organization. Our internship program is designed to create a pipeline of early-career talent interested in building a career in the water innovation and technology industry. Interns are our primary talent pool for future full-time and rotational opportunities.
What You’ll Do
Support the creation and organization of training materials, process documentation, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) related to operational processes and ERP readiness
Help maintain internal knowledge repositories and documentation libraries using Microsoft 365 tools
Collect, organize, and prepare operational and customer service data using Excel to support ERP migration activities
Review datasets to identify data quality issues, including duplicates, inconsistencies, or missing information
Collaborate with team members to validate and standardize data prior to ERP migration
Assist with Power BI dashboards and basic reporting to improve visibility into operational data
Explore opportunities to use Microsoft Copilot, automation, and AI tools to streamline workflows and repetitive tasks
Document workflows and support projects focused on process improvement, operational efficiency, and customer experience
What We’re Looking For
Required Qualifications
Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Data Analytics, Information Systems, Computer Science, Operations Management, or a related field
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (data organization, formulas, pivot tables)
Familiarity with Microsoft 365 tools (Excel, Teams, SharePoint, PowerPoint)
Basic exposure to data analysis or data visualization through coursework or projects
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Effective written and verbal communication skills
Interest in data, digital tools, business processes, and system implementations
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Power BI or other data visualization tools
Familiarity with process documentation, workflow mapping, or SOP development
Exposure to ERP systems, system implementations, or business process transformation (academic or internship experience)
Exposure to automation tools, AI tools, or Microsoft Copilot
Coursework or project experience working with datasets, dashboards, or operational reporting
