Mission
The Okta Sales Engineer drives business growth for Okta across the technical partner community by:
- Arranging technical sales activities that target partner enablement and community build.
- Providing technical expertise and guidance to partners throughout the sales cycle.
- Conducting demos and delivering compelling presentations to showcase the value of Okta’s solutions.
- Articulating the Okta value proposition and addressing technical questions or concerns.
- Playing a crucial role in partner relationship management and sales closure based on technical considerations.
Main Duties
Reporting to the Technical Services Director, the Exclusive Networks Okta Sales Engineer is responsible for:
- Understanding Okta’s technical features, and how they map to business outcomes.
- Holding the required Okta technical certifications.
- Providing technical Sales support and guidance across the channel for all Okta products and services.
- Performing technical presentations for partners, their customers, and at events.
- Delivering product demonstrations to showcase Okta.
- Leading Proof of Concepts across the channel, from deployment to completion.
- Designing identity, cloud, security, and network architectures in collaboration with partners.
- Participating in sales meetings, trade shows and industry events.
- Providing post-sales support to partners and their customers, ensuring their satisfaction with Okta.
- Collaborating with Okta to ensure the successful implementation of solutions.
- Managing local technical relationships with Okta.
- Staying updated on industry trends, market dynamics and competitor offerings.
Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical area (Computer Science, Computer Engineering); or equivalent work experience.
- 3-7 years’ experience in a sales engineer role in identity and security.
- Current certifications with Okta alliance technologies are desirable.
- Ability to understand complex technical concepts and effectively communicate them to both technical and non-technical audiences in an easy-to-understand format.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build rapport and establish strong relationships with partners and internal teams.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Effective technical presentation skills.
- Good Communication capabilities.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Strong negotiation and persuasion skills.
- Driving licence.
Qualities & Experience
- Experience in Identity Security is desirable.
- Experience in a partner-facing role.
- Knowledge of the local market and end customer preferences.
- Experience creating technical content, such as webinar presentations or technical blog posts.
- Comfortable with technical and business English usage (document reading, e-mails, conference calls).
- Experience working with cross-functional teams, including product development and marketing.
- A passion for helping existing and potential partners.
- Willingness to travel to give presentations, meet with potential partners, attend conferences, trade shows, and other events.
- Self-motivated and target-driven with a proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets and driving revenue growth.
