Marketing Growth Manager

Currently, we are looking for a Marketing (Membership) Growth Manager for The Kyiv Independent.
The Kyiv Independent is Ukraine’s main English-language news outlet. Founded in November 2021 by journalists who stood up for editorial independence, they serve as Ukraine’s voice to the world. The membership program is a core pillar of their sustainability, and they are looking for someone to help them scale it further.
Role Mission
You’ll join the Readers Revenue team — a dedicated unit focused on growing paid membership, one of the key revenue streams of The Kyiv Independent.
This role is about scaling membership by improving how users convert into paying subscribers. It involves working with experiments, analyzing performance, and identifying what truly drives growth — from the first touchpoint to long-term retention.
Unlike many marketing roles focused on a single channel, you’ll get hands-on experience across multiple acquisition and conversion channels, including website, email, social, and partnerships. This will give you a broader understanding of how growth works across the full funnel and what actually impacts results.
You’ll work closely with an experienced growth manager with ~6 years of experience in product IT across international markets, gaining practical exposure to how growth is built in real products — from testing ideas and working with different channels to understanding how data drives decisions and revenue.
What you’ll do
Launch and optimize acquisition initiatives across key channels (website, email, social, partnerships)
Run experiments to improve conversion across the funnel (A/B testing, messaging, offers, formats)
Analyze performance and make data-driven decisions (conversion, retention, LTV, engagement)
Identify growth opportunities and propose new ideas to increase membership
Collaborate with cross-functional teams (editorial, product, social, video) to execute growth strategies
Contribute to building and scaling the membership growth system from the ground up
What we’re looking for
1–3 years of experience in digital marketing, growth, community, media, or operations.
Strong marketing and project-management skills.
Comfort working with data, spreadsheets, and basic analytics.
Ability to execute ideas, follow through, and manage multiple tasks at once.
Clear written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency in English.
A proactive, hands-on mindset.
Would be a plus
Experience with membership or subscription products.
Familiarity with tools like Stripe, CRM systems, or email platforms.
Experience working in media, startups, or mission-driven organizations.
