Senior Software Engineer - Backend
Design and build high-performance, reliable, mission-critical software to control satellites, monitor telemetry, and provide real-time situational awareness.
As a Software Engineer on the Platform team, you'll design and build services that autonomously control satellites, monitor telemetry for anomalies, and provide real-time situational awareness to keep our fleet safe and online. You'll also be building the core components and services that power the rest of our software organization, enabling every team to move faster and more reliably.
You will be shaping the foundation of software that has to work flawlessly – because our satellites depend on it.
This role will contribute to both our commercial and US government programs.
Role
- Design and build high-performance, reliable, mission-critical software that is used to send commands to space
- Take full ownership of features, working across backend and infrastructure
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to define software requirements, architectures, and designs
- Continuously assess the evolving tech landscape and advocate for innovations that will improve our system
- Mentor teammates, share knowledge, and help raise the technical bar
Requirements
- 6+ years of professional experience as a software engineer
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related technical field
- Strong proficiency in Python
- Experience with distributed systems and microservice architectures
- Experience and understanding of databases (Postgres, etc)
- Experience and understanding of pub/sub and streaming systems (RabbitMQ, Flink, etc)
- Track record of delivering high-impact features and improvements in a collaborative environment
Bonus
- Experience with Kubernetes
- Experience introducing metrics and monitoring to increase system stability
- Proficiency in C++, Go, Rust
- Experience building fleet management systems

The actual base salary offered to a successful candidate will additionally be influenced by a variety of factors including experience, credentials & certifications, educational attainment, skill level requirements, and the level and scope of the position.
Base Salary
$150,000—$200,000 USD
