Lean Manufacturing - Production Supervisor, Third Shift (7:30 PM – 6:00 AM)
The Production Supervisor is responsible for leading and coordinating manufacturing operations during the 3rd shift to ensure production targets, quality standards, safety requirements, and continuous improvement goals are achieved. This role oversees production employees, drives Lean manufacturing initiatives, and ensures efficient use of labor, materials, and equipment. The supervisor will foster a culture of safety, accountability, and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and lead production team members during the 3rd shift to meet daily production schedules and performance targets.
- Ensure adherence to safety policies, quality standards, and company procedures.
- Monitor and manage production output, scrap levels, downtime, and labor efficiency.
- Implement and support Lean Manufacturing principles such as:
- 5S
- Kaizen events
- Standard work
- Waste reduction
- Continuous improvement initiatives
- Coordinate with maintenance, quality, and engineering teams to resolve production issues.
- Analyze production metrics and implement improvements to increase efficiency and reduce waste.
- Train, coach, and develop employees on safety, quality, and operational procedures.
- Conduct daily shift meetings and communicate production goals and performance updates.
- Ensure accurate documentation of production reports, shift logs, and labor tracking.
- Address employee performance concerns and participate in disciplinary actions when necessary.
- Support cross-functional teams to improve processes and drive operational excellence.
Qualifications
Education
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, Operations Management, or related field preferred.
- Equivalent manufacturing experience may be considered.
Experience
- 3–5+ years of manufacturing experience, with at least 1–2 years in a supervisory or team leadership role.
- Experience working in Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement environments.
- Experience managing night shift or off-shift operations preferred.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles and tools
- Leadership and team development skills
- Problem-solving and root cause analysis
- Ability to interpret production metrics and KPIs
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Proficiency with ERP or manufacturing systems like SAP or Oracle and Microsoft Office

Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, and supervise production activities for extended periods.
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 30–50 pounds.
- Work in a manufacturing environment with varying temperatures, noise levels, and machinery.
Preferred Certifications (Optional)
- Lean Six Sigma (Yellow/Green Belt)
- OSHA safety training
- Continuous Improvement certifications
The estimated salary range for this position is $72,300 – $85,000 plus bonus Starting pay is dependent on multiple factors, such as skills, experience and work location, and is not typically at the top of the range.
