Senior Software Engineer II, SDET
Job Summary
We are looking for a seasoned, impact‑driven Senior SDET who brings strong quality engineering fundamentals, modern automation practices, and platform awareness. This role goes beyond writing tests—you will help shape test strategy, build scalable automation, integrate quality signals into CI/CD, and leverage AI‑assisted tooling to accelerate delivery and reduce manual effort.
You will work closely with Engineering, Platform, Reliability, and Product teams to ensure quality is built in from the start and continuously validated across environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and evolve scalable test automation frameworks for web, API, and platform services
- Own and expand automated test suites across unit, integration, contract, and end‑to‑end layers
- Classify and rationalize tests into automatable / non‑automatable, continuously pushing the boundary using service virtualization and mocks
- Leverage AI‑based developer assistance tools (e.g., Cursor, Claude, GitHub Copilot or similar) to:
- Accelerate test creation and refactoring
- Improve coverage and reduce duplication
- Analyze failures and flaky tests
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines with embedded quality gates and automated test execution
- Integrate and operationalize test reporting and observability using tools like ReportPortal and Allure
- Ensure test stability by collaborating with Platform/Infra teams on environment readiness and upstream/downstream dependencies
- Partner with Dev, RE, and Product teams to define clear Definitions of Done (DoD) with measurable quality outcomes
- Mentor junior SDETs and engineers; review automation code and advocate best practices
- Contribute to platform‑level initiatives where needed (pipelines, tooling, test infrastructure)
Required Skills
- 8+ years of experience as an SDET, Automation Engineer, or Software Engineer with strong testing focus
- Strong understanding of software design principles, data structures, and algorithms
- Hands‑on experience with modern test automation frameworks, like – Selinium, Playwright and API automation
- Experience building and integrating CI/CD pipelines for continuous testing (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, etc.)
- Strong programming skills in Java (Python is a plus), with clean, maintainable code practices
- Experience with test reporting and analytics tools such as ReportPortal, Allure
- Solid experience with cloud‑native environments, including:
- AWS services
- Containers, Kubernetes, Docker
- Working knowledge of databases (Postgres, Oracle, MongoDB) and ability to write SQL for validation and automation
- Proficiency with Git/GitHub, pull‑request workflows, and code reviews
- Strong debugging and root‑cause analysis skills for test failures, infra instability, and flaky tests
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work cross‑functionally
Desired / Good‑to‑Have Skills
- Experience with service virtualization, test doubles, or contract testing to eliminate manual dependencies
- Exposure to platform engineering or reliability engineering concepts
- Experience participating in cloud migrations or modernization programs
- Familiarity with Agile / DevOps environments
- Experience driving test rationalization and reduction of duplicate coverage
- Prior experience mentoring teams on automation strategy and quality practices
