Payroll Analyst
The Global Payroll Analyst will manage payroll for US and international entities, provide analytics, and assist with global year-end activities.
The Role
The Global Payroll Analyst is a non-exempt position that can be based in Oakland, CA, at one of our other office locations, or full-time remote. Reporting to the US Payroll Manager, this position is responsible for supporting global payroll administration across multiple countries with a US focus, providing solution recommendations, and coordinating payroll project management. The role will also assist with global year-end activities and serve as a key resource for global payroll matters.
You Will
- Payroll Administration: Manage and run payroll for US entities, along with at least 1-3 international entities from start to finish. Leverage AI tools to find ways to enhance processing efficiency
- Payroll Analytics: Provide payroll analytics and service reporting requests from multiple departments or external vendors
- Global Mobility: Process Global Mobility stock files for US employees, support Global Payroll stock runs, manage ESPP election file updates, and validate Global ESPP contributions twice a year
- Technology & Country Implementations: Assist with the implementation of new payroll technology and support the migration of new countries, including transitions from other payroll providers
- Tax Coordination: Assist with W-2 reconciliation, coordinate amended tax returns with local providers and assist with the balancing of global annual filings (T-4, PD11, PD60) for Global Lead approval
- Team Collaboration: Support other Payroll Analysts with payroll processing as needed and collaborate with the team on the implementation of new technologies to improve payroll processing, both US and Global
- System Testing: Assist in testing new setup, system enhancements, updates, and integrations affecting Global Payroll, and provide temporary workarounds if an automated solution isn't functioning correctly
- Policy & Compliance Review: Review policies and work rules to ensure compliance with legislative obligations. Maintain Payroll Standard Operating Procedures and job aids
- Customer Service: Work with the other Payroll Analysts to provide excellent service to employees and partners by resolving payroll queries and ensuring accurate processing
- Coordination with Internal Teams and Vendors: Collaborate with HR, Benefits, and other internal teams to ensure HR and payroll changes are processed, funding occurs for all accounts, tax remittance is accurate, and month-end close support is completed
- Payroll Accounting Support: Assist the payroll accounting team with global month-end reconciliation research
- Payroll Projects: Participate in various payroll projects and other opportunities as assigned
You Have
- Willingness to support conference calls during early or late hours to accommodate global time zones
- Minimum of 5+ years of experience in Global Payroll, with a strong understanding of US payroll tax administration
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with ongoing changes
- Understanding of basic payroll accounting procedures
- Proven experience in project management
- Experience with system implementation, ongoing technical support, and managing multiple payroll system integrations
- Proficient in MS Excel, including advanced functions (VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, IF statements)
- Experience writing and generating reports
- Working knowledge of UKG(Ultipro) and Workday HRIS is desirable but not essential
- Strong understanding of SOX controls
- Experience maintaining payroll and employee confidentiality
- Ability to work independently, multitask, and meet deadlines
- CPP certification is preferred
