Job Description

AECOM is looking for a Construction Engineer - Mechanical to provide technical support, mechanical field reviews and various engineering services during the construction and commissioning phase of the NSWWTP project. This role requires both construction expertise and technical design knowledge. The position is based full time, on site, in North Vancouver.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct field reviews to ensure compliance with approved drawings, specifications, and building codes.
  • Provide technical support and engineering guidance to construction teams to resolve on-site issues.
  • Review shop drawings, RFIs, change orders, and field modifications for mechanical systems.
  • Perform quality assurance checks on materials and workmanship, ensuring adherence to contract documents.
  • Coordinate with civil, structural, process and electrical engineering teams to address construction challenges.
  • Monitor and document construction progress, non-conformances, and corrective actions as needed.
  • Comply with safety and regulatory requirements and advocate for safety at all times.
  • Support project close-out activities, including punch lists, final inspections, and documentation.
  • Complete mechanical analysis using design software if required.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • P.Eng. certification is required for BC or ability to receive within 6 months
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field with 4+ years of civil/mechanical experience in construction inspection, QA, or site engineering , with a strong background in multi-disciplinary water and wastewater projects.

Preferred Experience:

  • 8+ years of structural field experience in construction inspection, quality assurance, or site engineering or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
  • Experience working in multi-disciplinary projects, coordinating with civil, structural, and electrical teams.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills to address site-related challenges efficiently.
  • Strong communication skills to liaise with contractors, consultants, and regulatory authorities.
  • Proficiency in inspection reporting, documentation, and construction monitoring tools.
  • Working with stainless steel, carbon steel and FRP piping systems in an industrial setting.
  • Familiarity with seismic design considerations for infrastructure projects.
