The Global Competitive Strategy & Insights team delivers high-impact insights that guide eBay’s senior leadership as they navigate an increasingly dynamic commerce landscape. The team partners closely with global verticals, horizontal initiative teams, and functional leaders to identify opportunities, assess competitive dynamics, and inform enterprise-level strategic decisions that shape eBay’s growth trajectory.

About the Role

The Senior Analyst – Competitive Analytics & AI Insights is a key contributor within the Global Competitive Strategy & Insights team. This role drives high-quality competitive analysis, builds scalable dashboards and models, and actively contributes to the team’s AI-enabled transformation.

This role partners closely with US-based team members and cross-functional stakeholders to deliver timely, accurate, and actionable insights. The ideal candidate is technically strong, detail-oriented, intellectually curious, and motivated to leverage AI and automation to improve analytics efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver Competitive Analytics & Reporting

  • Build, maintain, and enhance dashboards tracking inventory, GMV, supply-demand metrics, market growth, and share trends.
  • Develop and maintain competitive benchmarking models across focus categories and horizontal initiatives using vendor data and external intelligence.
  • Deliver clear, executive-ready analyses with thoughtful commentary on key drivers, trends, and risks.
  • Monitor business metrics and proactively surface actionable insights.

Partner Closely with US Team & Stakeholders

  • Collaborate with US-based team members to support ongoing strategic initiatives and reporting needs.
  • Provide timely analytical support aligned with PST working hours through partial overlap.
  • Translate business questions into structured analyses and deliverables.
  • Communicate progress, timelines, and potential risks clearly and proactively.

Apply AI & Automation in Analytics

  • Proactively leverage AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Gemini, eBay internal AI tools) to improve speed, accuracy, and insight generation.
  • Support automation initiatives by identifying repetitive workflows that can be streamlined.
  • Continuously explore new tools and techniques to enhance productivity and insight quality.

Data Integration & Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Collect and integrate vendor data into interactive visualizations and scalable models.
  • Partner with Data Engineering team to improve data reliability and pipeline efficiency.
  • Support vendor relationship management and data requirement scoping.
  • Contribute to monthly and quarterly reporting cycles and strategy deck development.

Operational Excellence

  • Ensure high accuracy, strong attention to detail, and timely delivery of outputs.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, enhance data quality, and increase efficiency.
  • Support ad hoc analyses and deep dives aligned with team priorities.

Requirements

  • 4–7 years of experience in Data Analytics, Data Science, or related analytical roles.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Analytics, Data Science, Computer Science, Economics, or a related quantitative field.
  • Strong proficiency in SQL, Tableau, Excel, and PowerPoint; Python is a plus.
  • Experience working with large datasets and building dashboards/models from scratch.
  • Strong understanding of how AI tools can be applied to analytics workflows.
  • Experience working in cross-functional or global team environments preferred.
  • Strong analytical thinking, communication skills, and attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience integrating vendor and third-party datasets.
  • Exposure to automation tools, scripting, or AI-enabled workflows.
  • Experience in eCommerce, marketplaces, or competitive intelligence.
