Impeller Finisher
Overview & Responsibilities
To perform all of the required functions necessary to grind, deburr, clean and heat treat component parts.
Responsibilities
Receives instructions from supervisor.
Loads or positions material on cart, in oven, on fixture or other as required to perform task.
Pushes buggy to room manually.
Loads ovens as required.
Lights furnace, sets controls as required.
Heats materials for specified time as required.
Adjust temperature control as needed.
Performs all quenching as needed.
Tests finished parts with proper hardness testing equipment and records results.
Makes minor adjustments to furnace.
Cleans and maintains proper level for quench tanks.
Records production and test results.
Lubricates machine as required, wipes and keeps machine, tools and workplace clean.
Keeps all equipment in proper place.
Reports defective material to supervisor.
Loads and unloads transfer buggies for delivery to and from other departments.
Delivers material between workstation, departments, divisions using forklifts, material loading equipment as needed.
Removes scrap as necessary.
Uses hand tools to clean, grind, deburr impellers, weldments, rotors, castings as required.
Stencils parts as required.
Reports production count.
Lubricates and cleans hand grinders, steam load, steam gas, etc., as required.
Mixes plaster of Paris or other materials and applies to parts to be machined and removes these materials/unpacks.
Uses abrasive cloth and cleaning fluid to produce acceptable surface on material.
Applies oil sealer as required.
Degreases as required.
Mixes cleaning solution as required and operates steam generator as needed.
Reports production counts and defective material.
Maintains good housekeeping by keeping tools, material and equipment in proper place and work organized.
Performs routine preventive maintenance on ovens and machines.
Operates dry blast equipment.
Sets up and attaches impellers on positioners as required.
Operates various hoist and/or overhead crane as required.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent.
Must be able and willing to work 1st (7am-3pm), 2nd (3pm-11pm) and 3rd (11pm-7am) shifts. Shifts are not guaranteed and are subject to shift realignment.
Must be able and willing to work overtime, weekends and holidays.
