Financial Risk Officer
Financial Risk Officer to improve and expand financial risk framework, supporting data-driven decision-making and contributing to innovation and growth.
The Opportunity
As we continue our journey to make money management effortless for every business in Europe, Mollie is looking for a Financial Risk Officer to help improve and further expand our financial risk framework. As a growing fintech company expanding and accelerating its product offering, Mollie offers an exciting opportunity for a risk specialist to support smart, data-driven decision-making while contributing to innovation and growth. Our dynamic way of working enables direct interaction with business domains, allowing you to play an integral role in delivering high-quality solutions to our customers. As a financial services provider, Mollie is exposed to a variety of financial risks related to our relationships with customers, financial counterparties, and group treasury management activities.
In this role, you will support the Financial Risk Lead in scaling and strengthening second-line financial risk oversights. You’ll work closely with our first-line Credit Risk, Treasury, Data Analytics and Machine Learning Crafts to support a strong and forward-looking financial risk framework.
You will be part of Mollie’s Risk Domain, which spans multiple risk areas. This role reports to the Financial Risk Lead and is based at our headquarters in Amsterdam.
What you'll be doing:
Challenge and monitor first-line adherence to Mollie’s Credit Risk Management Policy by performing independent second-line credit reviews;
Support the business by identifying emerging financial risks, conducting financial scenario analyses, and advising on risk-mitigating measures during product development initiatives;
Draft, review, and update financial risk-related policies and guidelines to reflect internal developments and regulatory changes;
Contribute to the review and validation of internal risk models used by the Credit or Treasury functions, ensuring methodological soundness and alignment with business objectives;
Monitor and enhance the execution of Mollie’s Risk Appetite Framework, collaborating with business domains to ensure risk appetite thresholds are regularly monitored and corrective actions are taken when needed;
Develop and maintain second-line financial risk dashboards and reports for senior management and governance committees;
Conduct regular risk assessments in partnership with business stakeholders and provide clear, actionable advice on risk mitigation strategies;
Promote risk awareness and foster a risk-conscious culture that enables commercial success while ensuring sound internal control and regulatory compliance.
What you’ll bring:
A completed academic degree, preferably in Risk Management, Economics, Applied Mathematics, or a comparable field.
2-4 years of relevant experience in a regulated environment, ideally within second-line Risk Management in the banking or fintech sector.
Proven expertise in credit risk and treasury risk; experience in model validation is a strong advantage.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey the impact and relevance of risk decisions to both internal and external stakeholders.
Strong interpersonal and advisory skills, with the confidence to challenge and support first-line stakeholders at different levels across the organisation.
A curious, analytical mindset with a keen eye for detail; your work is known for being thoughtful, precise, and well-reasoned.
