Product Manager Intern

THE ROLE
Sensus, a Xylem brand, is seeking a Product Manager Intern to join our Global Water Product Management team. In this role, you will have the opportunity to influence product development on a global scale, working at the intersection of customers, sales, marketing, and engineering to help build a sustainable, digital future for water and energy.
Depending on aptitude and interest, the intern will be assigned a primary project that supports learning objectives while advancing company goals.
Sensus, a Xylem brand, partners with utilities, cities, and industrial customers to help them do more with their infrastructure using data-driven insights, sensing technologies, communications networks, and advanced analytics to improve efficiency, resilience, and quality of life in communities.
Xylem Summer Internships typically last 10–12 weeks and are designed to provide hands-on, professional experience while making a meaningful contribution to the business.
Our internship program is intended to create pipeline of talented early career professionals interested in a career in the water innovation and technology industry.
This internship offers a unique opportunity to explore product management in a global technology organization and determine whether a career in water and energy technology is right for you.
Internship duration: 10–12 weeks
Average hourly rate: $21.00 – $26.00/hour
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
Learn the existing Sensus technology stack and articulate the differentiated value of our solutions
Think like a customer and identify opportunities to improve the product portfolio
Perform market and customer research through:
Stakeholder interviews
Data analysis
Competitive landscape monitoring
Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Engineering, Sales, Marketing) to support the product roadmap
Communicate insights and recommendations through reports and presentations
Support one or more project-based initiatives, which may include:
Improving user experience by coordinating standards and software decisions across teams
Documenting customer value and recommended actions related to edge analytics
Building tools to translate bid responses into quantifiable product data
Working with customers to test beta products and partnering with engineering to implement feedback
DAY IN THE LIFE
Participate in product planning, roadmap, and stakeholder meetings
Work closely with experienced product managers and technical teams
Balance independent project work with collaborative problem-solving
Engage with real customer use cases and feedback
Build core product management skills in strategy, analytics, communication, and execution
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Business, or a related field
Strong analytical, communication, and presentation skills
Self-starter with high motivation and integrity
Ability to understand technical concepts and communicate impacts to stakeholders
Strong interpersonal, teamwork, and problem-solving skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Fluent in English
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Data analysis skills (Excel; Python, R, or GIS a plus)
Technical familiarity with electronics, radio communications, software, or water systems
Strong project management skills with the ability to influence without formal authority
Multilingual capabilities
