Job Description
Morning News Now is looking for a talented, decisive Line Producer who thrives in the control room and understands the unique rhythm of live morning news. This is a pivotal role on our flagship streaming morning show — the person who keeps the broadcast tight, smart, urgent, and visually compelling from the first block to the final tease.
If you’re a journalist first, love building a strong rundown, and know how to pivot seamlessly when news breaks at 6:12am, this role is for you.
Responsibilities:
- Own the Rundown
Partner with the Executive Producer and senior producers to build and execute a sharp, well-paced daily rundown that reflects the biggest stories of the morning and anticipates developments throughout the day. - Lead in the Control Room
Drive live production with calm authority. Make real-time editorial decisions, adjust timing, and rework segments seamlessly when breaking news hits. - Elevate Editorial Quality
Approve and copy edit scripts for clarity, accuracy, tone, and impact. Write headlines, teases, and opens that cut through and set the agenda for the day. - Collaborate Across the Newsroom
Work closely with booking, the news desk, correspondents, and bureaus to secure strong guests, coordinate live shots, and ensure the show reflects the full power of NBC News reporting. - Strengthen Production Value
Partner with producers and editors to identify the strongest video, sound, and graphic elements for every block. Ensure visuals are clean, accurate, and compelling. - Think Ahead
Balance day-of urgency with forward planning. Help identify recurring franchises, fresh angles, and smart ways to serve a morning streaming audience.
Qualifications

- 3+ years working on live daily news programs
- At least 1 year of experience as a Line Producer

- Exceptional writing and copy-editing skills
- Ability to stay composed and decisive under tight, high-pressure deadlines
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience
- Willing and able to work in-person in New York, NY
Desired Characteristics:
- A journalist at heart with strong control room instincts
- Energized by breaking news and comfortable adjusting a show in real time
- Sharp eye for visual storytelling, graphics, and pacing
- Collaborative leader who brings clarity and momentum to a team
- Deep knowledge of current events and the morning news cycle
