Tax Manager

As Astranis’s Tax Manager, you will assist the Head of Tax with our global tax function, architecting a tax infrastructure that supports our rapid growth and international expansion. You will help manage the full spectrum of Tax: Provision, Compliance, and Planning for both US and International operations. You will help expand our tax team and work cross-functionally with Supply Chain, Legal, and Finance to ensure our tax strategy scales alongside our engineering and manufacturing ambitions.

Role

Tax Provision and Tax Compliance 

• Global Provision: Manage the preparation of the quarterly and annual global income tax provision in accordance with ASC 740 as prepared by third-party advisors. This includes providing input on and reviewing calculations for deferred tax assets/liabilities, valuation allowances, and uncertain tax positions (FIN 48).

• Global Compliance Management: Assist the Head of Tax with the end-to-end compliance lifecycle. This includes managing the preparation and first review of US Federal Returns, US State Tax Returns, and foreign compliance forms (VAT, GST) as prepared by third-party advisors.

Tax Planning & Strategy

• Strategic Advisory: Assist the Head of Tax in establishing our global tax policy, determining the tax implications of international expansion, business model setups, and supply chain logistics. 
• Legislative Forecasting: Monitor US and Global tax developments (e.g., Pillar Two) to model impacts and recommend strategic pivots.

Tax Operations & Project Management

• Process Architecture: Architect the "tax engine" by partnering with Systems teams to automate data extraction from NetSuite and streamline the tax close process.
• Audit Defense: Serve as the lead defender of the company’s tax positions, managing all Federal, State, and Foreign tax audits.
• Project Management: Assist the Head of Tax with the development and execution of our global expansion playbook.

Requirements

• 5+ years of progressive tax experience (Corporate/Public Accounting mix) and/or industry experience
• Bachelor’s Degree in accounting or similar field
• Technical expertise in ASC 740 and Corporate Tax
• Experience building or improving tax processes (i.e., implementation of tax software or improving global compliance procedures)
• Advanced data skills: Proficiency in Excel; ability to navigate ERPs (NetSuite) and interpret large datasets is critical

Bonus

• Juris Doctor (JD), Board-Certified Attorney, Certified Public Accountant, and/or MST (Masters in Taxation)
• Experience in Hardware, Manufacturing, or Aerospace (handling inventory, heavy fixed assets, and R&D)
• Experience implementing tax automation software (Avalara, Vertex, etc.)
• Experience with Corptax

Base pay is just one component of Astranis’s total rewards package. Astranis pay ranges are informed and defined through professional-grade salary surveys and compensation data sources. The actual base salary offered to a successful candidate will additionally be influenced by a variety of factors including experience, credentials & certifications, educational attainment, skill level requirements, and the level and scope of the position.

Base Salary

$140,000—$180,000 USD
