Application Security Engineering Manager

About the role
We are seeking a Security Engineering Manager to lead our Application Security team in ensuring the security and integrity of our products and third-party software used across all of Anthropic.
What you'll do
- Oversee “shift left" security efforts to build security into the software development lifecycle, with a focus on automation and scalability
- Ensure your team has the right processes and procedures to assist with threat modeling, secure design reviews, risk acceptance and security code reviews
- Operate our vulnerability management, security partnerships, and bug bounty / vulnerability disclosure programs
- Help to develop security policies, standards, playbooks and secure coding training content
- Encourage automation of applicable security-specific workloads and building tools that enable Anthropic teams to self-serve
- Build partnerships and collaborate with product and research teams to instill security best practices
- Manage and grow a team of Application Security engineers to deliver high-impact projects and experiences to our internal users
Who you are
- 5+ years hands-on application and infrastructure security experience
- 3+ years of engineering management experience
- Possesses a deep understanding of security best practices, threat modeling, risk assessment
- Experienced in securing complex cloud environments (Kubernetes, Docker, AWS/GCP)
- Knowledgeable in AI/ML security risks and mitigations
- Strong in verbal and written communication and can distill complex security topics
- Skilled at collaborating cross-functionally and effectively balancing security requirements with business objectives
- Able to drive high-impact work while incorporating feedback
- Passionate about building diverse, high-performing teams and growing engineers in a fast-paced environment
- Low ego, high empathy, and have a track record as a talent magnet
The expected salary range for this position is:
Annual Salary:
$405,000—$405,000 USD

Location-based hybrid policy: Currently, we expect all staff to be in one of our offices at least 25% of the time.
