Lead Manufacturing Test Engineer to develop and implement automated test procedures for subsystems, ensuring high quality and scalability.
ABOUT THE TEAM:
Anduril’s Manufacturing team is seeking a Lead Manufacturing Test Engineer to drive the development of manufacturing test processes for our products. The team is responsible for rapidly iterating and building cutting-edge defense hardware, including static equipment, moving ground equipment, and complex vehicles.
ABOUT THE ROLE:
As a Lead Manufacturing Test Engineer, you will be responsible for developing and implementing high-fidelity, automated test procedures for Anduril’s Sentry Tower subsystems. Working closely with engineering staff and skilled electro-mechanical technicians, you will enhance our testing capabilities to ensure high quality and scalability in our production operations.
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
- Lead a team in developing and executing high-fidelity automated test procedures.
- Develop, execute, and manage test ecosystems to de-risk hardware and ensure products meet target reliability levels.
- Design and implement semi-automated testing equipment and protocols for subsystem characterization and reliability/environmental testing.
- Integrate your designs into Anduril’s PDM systems, following the same process for component design and release used by our product design teams.
- Collaborate with design teams to integrate mechanical DFM/DFT requirements into our products.
- Determine the root cause of product failures and recommend appropriate corrective actions (RCCA).
- Analyze test data, document results, and provide detailed reports to identify defects and areas for improvement.
- Work alongside design engineers to provide feedback and recommendations for product enhancements based on test outcomes.
- Continuously improve methods of automation, throughput, user interfaces, and data analytics.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronics, Computer, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in manufacturing or a similar prototyping position.
- Proven team leadership skills with clear examples of success.
- A commitment to world-class mission assurance, quality, attention to detail, and dedication.
- A genuine interest in manufacturing and a strong desire to learn.
- Demonstrated ability to creatively deliver hardware in resource-constrained environments.
- Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Strong root cause analysis skills for non-conforming hardware.
- Experience with contract manufacturers, in-house fabrication, and prototyping processes.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Matlab, SHELL, or others.
- Familiarity with computer hardware communication protocols: USB, Ethernet, RS232, RS485, PCIe, HDMI, CAN, etc.
- Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience building or transforming successful production operation organizations and leading large-scale change management initiatives that influence culture, define tools and processes, and improve competencies.
- Proficiency in additional programming languages such as Python, Matlab, SHELL, or others.
- Familiarity with computer hardware communication protocols: USB, Ethernet, RS232, RS485, PCIe, HDMI, CAN, etc.
- Demonstrated success in scaling product testing and production from tens/hundreds to hundreds/thousands.
- Experience leading and managing teams on fast-paced, complex projects.
- Expert capability with at least one mechanical design package (e.g., CAD, SolidWorks, NX).
- Skills in cost analysis, cost reduction strategies, and managing production budgets.
- Hands-on experience with software and firmware flashing or end-of-line testing and troubleshooting.
- Personal experience in physically manufacturing hardware via any means (machining, fabrication, soldering, assembly, etc.). Extracurricular projects are a plus.
- Current active U.S. Secret security clearance.
