CDL Driver Technician

Job Summary:The Driver Technician will be responsible for safe operation of a DOT regulated vehicle, supporting the delivery, installation or dismantling of Xylem equipment. This role also executes field service activities at customer sites in a safe and efficient manner, including system troubleshooting, and can identify and remedy safety issues (both Company and Customer owned equipment). Has direct interfacing with customer and potentially operates at multiple sites / with multiple technologies.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform the job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
- Identify or verify equipment delivery or collection with customers and perform inspections and assessing if damages are present
- Maintain a detailed log of hours of service utilize Electronic Logging Devices (ELD) in accordance with state and Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) guidelines
- Utilize motorized equipment handling machinery to safely load and secure equipment on and off trucks and trailers
- Secure loaded items on the truck for safe over-the-road travel in accordance with Federal Motor Carriers Safety Administration (FMCSA), Federal Department of Transportation and local Department of Transportation guidelines
- Ability to work flexible hours & extended hours as needed (weekends, overtime and on-call rotations)
- Identify all items to be delivered or picked up with customer to ensure completeness and accuracy. Perform visual inspection of equipment being picked up and note any damage. Obtain customer’s signature on appropriate paperwork.
- Some duties are location/site specific and additional duties may be required based on the business needs
- Ability to function in a team environment, while also being able to work with minimal supervision.
- Ability to obtain all required customer clearances (TWIC, DISA, etc.)
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 1-2 years CDL experience
- Valid driver’s license with good driving record; (Class A license required)
- Tanker endorsement a plus
- Ability to obtain Department of Transportation Medical card (may obtain after hire), meet FMCSA age requirements and obtain Hazmat endorsement, if needed
- Experience operating heavy industrial equipment such as flatbed trailers, telehandlers, skid steers, air tuggers, etc.
- Basic computer skills and ability to read design documents or other layouts as necessary
**The estimated salary range for this position is $25 to $27/hourly. Starting pay is dependent on multiple factors, such as skills, experience and work location.
