Job Description
Job Duties
- Write and edit customer-facing documents such as user guides, help systems, and release notes that are appropriate to specific purposes and audiences.
- Define content structures, delivery solutions, and release plans for your product area.
- Developing and delivering technical content
- Interview, research, observe, and test to capture and synthesize source material.
- Evaluate publications and delivery methods for quality, accuracy, and usefulness.
- Collaborate with and lead cross-functional teams on content-related projects
- Helping define coverage plans based on writer capacity
- Analyzing business processes including activities to develop, communicate, and manage content plans for new product releases
- Working with internal business partners to gather information and synthesize source material
- Architecting customer-facing content appropriate to specific purposes and audiences
- Preparing and publishing software user guides and help systems on a quarterly and periodic basis
- Guiding project team members on Global Digital Technical Publication’s release process and tools
- Providing transparency to all elements of a project to leadership, collaborators, and resources
- Collaborating on crafting and implementing solutions to improve our ways of working including assisting content conversions to standardized authoring tools
Education
- BS/BA in writing- or science-related field, or the equivalent combination of experience and education.
Experience
- 6+ years of technical writing experience.
- Professional experience in electron microscopy, life sciences, or related scientific field preferred
- Solid experience working within Agile software development environments.
- Sophisticated knowledge of structured authoring and single-sourcing, particularly using Mad Cap Flare and other XML-based authoring tools.
- Detailed experience with GitLab, HTML, and CSS.
- Successful project leadership in cross-functional, cross-cultural international work teams.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a history of developing positive relationships.
- Proficiency in English, both verbal and written.
- Demonstrated attention to detail.
- Reliably self-motivated and comfortable working independently.
