Job Summary
Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead and grow our Enterprise Integration, Identity, Architecture, and CMDB capabilities within India operations. This role will work in close partnership with the Director and Senior Managers and act as a critical bridge between India-based engineering teams and leadership.
The Engineering Manager will be responsible for technical leadership, people management, delivery execution, and cross-team collaboration primarily across middleware integration platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- People & Delivery Management
- Manage and mentor a team of approximately 10+ engineers, majorly Middleware Engineers including Identity Management Engineers, Enterprise Architect, CMDB Administrator
- Ensure effective sprint planning, execution, and delivery across multiple workstreams.
- Provide regular coaching, performance feedback, career development planning, and succession planning.
- Foster a culture of engineering excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Technical & Platform Leadership
- Provide hands-on technical leadership and oversight across Middleware Engineers including Identity Management Engineers, Enterprise Architect, CMDB Administrator
- Act as a technical escalation point for complex integration, identity, and architecture challenges.
- Guide teams in designing, building, and operating scalable, secure, and resilient services.
- Middleware & Integration Focus
- Lead development and operations of enterprise integration services using:
- Tyk (API Management & Gateway)
- MuleSoft (existing integrations and migration initiatives)
- Support strategic initiatives to:
- Standardize APIs
- Reduce platform cost and complexity
- Enable Golden Path and non-Golden Path integrations
- Partner with teams on platform modernization and migration initiatives.
- Lead development and operations of enterprise integration services using:
- Cross-Functional & Global Collaboration
- Work closely with the Director & Senior Managers to align priorities, roadmaps, and execution plans.
- Collaborate with Enterprise Architecture, Security, Product, and Platform teams.
- Ensure effective communication and delivery coordination across India and US time zones.
- Support enterprise-wide initiatives related to modernization, security, and platform standardization.
- Governance & Operational Excellence
- Ensure adherence to enterprise architecture standards, security controls, and compliance requirements.
- Oversee CMDB accuracy, hygiene, and integration with engineering workflows.
- Improve operational metrics related to availability, reliability, performance, and cost optimization.
Required Qualifications
- Experience
- 14+ years of overall software engineering experience.
- 4+ years of experience as an Engineering Manager or Technical Manager.
- Proven experience managing cross-functional engineering teams.
- Strong background in enterprise integration and middleware platforms.
- Technical Skills
- Hands-on experience with:
- Tyk API Gateway / API Management
- MuleSoft (Anypoint Platform or equivalent)
- Hands-on or leadership experience in Kafka-based on similar messaging and event streaming platforms
- Experience in Identity & Access Management (IAM) concepts and platforms.
- Solid understanding of:
- API design and integration patterns
- Event-driven and service-oriented architectures
- Enterprise architecture principles
- CMDB tools and IT service management concepts
- Familiarity with cloud-native architectures (AWS preferred).
- Hands-on experience with:
- Leadership & Communication
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Ability to influence without authority across global teams.
- Comfortable working with senior leadership and FA counterparts.
- Experience operating in a matrixed, global organization.
- Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with large-scale enterprise modernization or integration programs.
- Exposure to API governance, security, and platform cost optimization.
- Prior experience working closely with US-based engineering leadership.
- Knowledge of DevOps, CI/CD, and cloud-native delivery models.
