Senior Mobile Engineer
Senior Mobile Engineer to design and implement Mobile Guides & Surveys product for cross-platform frameworks.
Amplitude is the leading digital analytics platform that helps companies unlock the power of their products.
As a Senior Mobile Engineer on the team, you'll own projects that impact millions of users and help us build something genuinely novel in the mobile space.
Ok, but what does your role actually mean? As a Senior Mobile Engineer, you will:
- Own the technical design and implementation of our Mobile Guides & Surveys product for cross-platform frameworks (iOS, Android, React Native, Flutter, etc.).
- Work collaboratively with PMs and designers to create an incredible developer experience—the same kind of experience Amplitude obsesses about
- Ship new features quickly and iteratively, while keeping one eye on the long-term maintainability of our code.
- Help define mobile engineering standards across multiple platforms, from build pipelines to release cycles.
- Advocate for best practices in mobile performance, testing, and instrumentation—after all, our customers rely on us to deliver real-time data.
- Work in a small, tight-knit team where your input matters and bureaucracy is nonexistent
- Prioritize end user experiences; we build tools that help end users, rather than polluting their sessions
How you know if you’ll like it here:
We believe in creating an environment where every engineer can do their best work, unburdened by process or tools that get in the way. That means:
- Working with people you admire
- Lots of ownership
- See your work shipped quickly
- Grow professionally at an ambitious rate (and receive commensurate support)
- Be bought into the strategy of what you’re working on
How we achieve this somewhat-buzzwordy-but-blissful state of affairs:
- No hierarchy (we are very flat)
- Diligently removing bad process (everyone on the team is expected to flag elements of our working rituals that seem unnecessary)
- Few meetings
- Transparency around strategy (why are we building what we’re building)
- Clear career paths
- Investing in growth with quarterly growth goals
What will help you succeed:
San Francisco or Vancouver preferred
Broad mobile expertise across ecosystems; it’s okay if you have an area of depth in a specific area (e.g., iOS), but you’ll be involved in mobile across all platforms so cross-platform interest is required
Strong technical background
Web frontend / JS experience is helpful! You’ll be working with the web team that has some shared typescript libraries
2+ years of full-time experience
SDK + library experience is a bonus
Startup experience or the equivalent in fast-paced small teams. We think this kind of experience is really critical to being successful on our team:
Ability to move mountains across the company to get your work shipped
Great problem solving skills (breaking a problem down into smaller parts, considering solutions to each, zooming out and assessing the whole plan and its weak points)
Working smart by prioritizing effectively, pushing to de-scope things that aren’t important, planning ahead, and identifying complexity early on vs. later
Appetite for ownership; both product and technical
Excellent communication skills; ability to communicate technical information at the right level of detail based on your audience. You’ll be working as part of our broader platform team
