Deputy Managing Director - Packaging & Logistics
Our client is a leading South African operation specializing in reusable plastic transport systems for the beverage, food, pharmaceutical, and cosmetic industries. The Opportunity
Our client is seeking an exceptional Deputy Managing Director to support and represent the Managing Director at their Johannesburg operations. This is a pivotal leadership role.
You will take ownership of strategic initiatives, operational excellence, and commercial performance while leading a local management team across two Johannesburg sites and one Cape Town site.
Key Responsibilities
- Represent the Managing Director in strategic leadership and operational management at various sites across Johannesburg and Cape Town
- Drive implementation of business strategies to achieve company goals
- Take ownership of revenue development, sales performance, profit, and market development initiatives
- Lead, coach, and motivate the local management team
- Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, customers, and partners
- Ensure compliance with company policies and legal regulations
- Identify market opportunities and develop initiatives to enhance market presence
- Ensure strong operational execution across all functions

Essential Requirements:
- Degree in Business Administration, Management, or related field
- Fluent in English & Afrikaans
- Minimum 5 years in a senior leadership role
- Technical background (experience having worked from plant manager into progressive leadership roles)
- Experience in pooling systems / logistics pooling systems/ packaging/ pallets logistics
- Multi-site management experience
- Proven track record in business development and management
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Affinity for sales activities and strong understanding of market dynamics
- Excellent negotiation skills
- High intercultural competence and ability to thrive in a dynamic environment
- Willingness to travel (approximately 30%)
Preferred:
Senior leadership experience in an international environment
Basic proficiency in German
Competitive salary package: ZAR 70,000 per month
